Mumbai

Continue reading

Inedible India!!

We weren’t expecting to spend any sort of time in Aurangabad but for the second time in India I had managed contract a little food poisoning which meant I didn’t really feel that I had the strength for riding the bike anywhere but when we did go to leave we got another nasty shock.  During our stay at our hotel we had been putting things on our room but after the first day we decided it was probably best to keep an eye on how much we were spending so took a note of everything we ordered and on the last day totaled it up so that we had a rough idea of the bill but for some reason the number we had and the number they had didn’t match, not even close so we asked to see the bill broken down and had a look through ….. the cheeky gits had only decided to go and add an extra nights accommodation along with some extra food to our bill!!  We couldn’t believe and decided to opt for the opinion that it was an honest mistake but it was a shock that made sure we were to do similar at other hotels and unfortunately find similar mistakes 😦 Continue reading

Meie peale jarjekordset tolmust paeva! Ime, et meile uldse hotellituba anti :-)!

Udaipurist edasi hakkasime me juba alla poole Mumbai poole edasi liikuma, kuid enne sinna joudmist tahtsime Mumbai lahedale Ellora koopaid vaatama minna. The Ellora Caves

Dirty RidersFrom Udaipur we planned to head south and inland a little towards Aurangabad the home, well as close as you can really get anyway, to the Ellora Caves. The ride down took us two days of hard riding, the first day was mainly spent on one of the Indian main roads which was in the process of being expanded into four lanes and in parts slowing our progress down to a snails like pace. Originally we had planned to get as close to Surat and the turn off for Aurangabad as possible by the end of day one but with the roadworks holding us up a little we didn’t think we were going to make so decided to try the roadside hotels/motels that were littered along the side of the road but for the first time on our trip we experienced what was to become a regular thing in the less touristy areas of India Continue reading

Rongis teel Jaipuri poole

Rongis teel Jaipuri poole

Korbe ferstival nahtud votsime me rongi tagasi Jaipuri. Udaipur Part II

Pichola Lake At SunsetAfter our short tour of Pichola lake we were back on dry land and thought it could be a good idea to find somewhere nice to take some shots of the lake and the hotel at sunset.  It was while we were doing this that we spotted and later bumped into a couple of other motorbikers so we thought why not have a wee chat.  It turned out that the couple didn’t share our enthusiasm for a chat and after a brief conversation where we found out that they were from Germany, had flown themselves with their beautiful KTM from there to Dehli and were about to try and tour all the different states of India they bid us goodnight and left!  A bit short but hey ho and so we carried on looking for that illusive spot for the perfect sunset shot. 🙂

The Name’s Pur …. Udaipur!

After our brief stay in Pushkar we were on the road again this time heading for Udaipur, the ride again, was uneventful, it’s funny, India is such a large country yet during most of our journeys (up until now and until the time that we left India (yep that’s right folks this is being written post India)) are spent on quite monotonous journies, it isn’t that India’s landscape doesn’t change from place to place it is more that it is so wide open and the changes can be so slight that it just appears that the scenery you are riding past as you are about to enter a new town or city is pretty much the same as the landscape you were looking at when you left the previous town or city!  Pushkar to Udaipur Valley View From GhatsThe one main contradiction to this are the Ghats, these are the mountain roads (not the things by the side of the lakes) that criss cross up the sides of the mountains that spring up out of the plains!!  These roads, although a little dangerous if you consider that all the bus and lorry drivers seem to think they are taking part in some sort of giant time trial, are quite pleasant, not only do you get to throw the bike through some twisties you also usually get some great views on the way up and on the way back down, plus when you are up there you get a slight reprieve from the relentless heat which makes the whole riding experience a whole lot better 🙂 Continue reading
